The Eye Cinema scoops two O2 Ability Awards
The Eye Cinema in Wellpark, Galway has been revealed as a winner of two awards in the O2 Ability Awards for 2007.
The Awards, now in their third year, encourage Irish businesses and organisations to recognise the real contribution people with diverse needs make to business.
Cinema, which is the only cinema in Ireland among the winners, has been recognised in two categories – Environmental Accessibility and Customer Service.
Chris Peters, General Manager at the Eye said ‘ We are absolutely delighted with the awards. Our building, our screens, our car park and snack areas are totally accessible to all. The audio described and screen talk shows have been a feature of our programming since we opened in 2005 and allow people with hearing and visual impairments to fully enjoy the cinematic experience.
We have a very loyal customer base and a wonderful staff and we are grateful to them for the significant contribution they make to our business on a weekly basis.’
The Eye Cinema is a subsidiary of Edward Holdings Limited. It won the ‘Best Commercial Building’ at the RIAI awards in 2006 and picked up an Award for Excellence at the RAAM Cinema Industry Conference in London earlier this year.
